Porcelain Veneers Asheboro, NC
If you struggle with the appearance of your teeth, Randolph Center for Dental Excellence can help. We offer some cosmetic services to improve the aesthetics of your smile. One service, which involves the placement of porcelain veneers, can drastically change the color, shape, size, or even length of your teeth.
What Are Porcelain Veneers?
Porcelain veneers are extremely thin, custom-made shells that cover the front surface of your teeth to improve their appearance. While veneers can also be made from a resin composite, porcelain better mimics the light-reflecting properties of natural enamel and is resistant to stains. Porcelain veneers are also considered to be the conservative alternative to crowns, which require a complete reshaping of the enamel. Dr. Bryan Freeman only removes a minor amount of enamel to place a veneer.
We may suggest veneers to fix some cosmetic issues, including:
• |
Teeth that are worn down from excessive grinding
|
• |
Teeth that are chipped, cracked, or broken
|
• |
Teeth that are severely stained or discolored
|
• |
Teeth that are uneven, misaligned, or irregularly shaped
|
• |
Teeth that are gapped |
Veneers are considered an irreversible procedure, which is why you must be certain you want to proceed with treatment. During a consultation visit with Dr. Bryan Freeman, be sure to voice any questions, concerns, and desired results.
Placing Porcelain Veneers
The veneer procedure usually takes one or two appointments. If you choose prefabricated veneers, we can complete the procedure in one appointment. If our laboratory is creating your veneers, it typically takes two appointments.
The procedure is so minor that local anesthetic is not usually required unless you have sensitivity issues. Dr. Bryan Freeman will begin by cleaning the tooth and determining the proper shade for your veneers. Next, Dr. Bryan Freeman will remove a small portion of your enamel to accommodate the thickness of your veneer. After your teeth have been reshaped, we will make a molded impression and send it to our dental laboratory. There, they will fabricate your final veneers, a process which may take several weeks.
Once your veneers are ready, we can schedule your second appointment. Dr. Bryan Freeman will clean your teeth in preparation for the veneers. Next, we will etch the back of the veneers and place an adhesive. Then, the cement and veneer will be precisely placed on your teeth. Once we have achieved the proper fit, Dr. Bryan Freeman will use a curing light to ensure the veneer is permanently bonded to the teeth. Any excess material will be removed before the procedure is complete.
Advantages of Porcelain Veneers
Veneers can be the ideal choice for certain patients because they offer the following advantages:
• |
Stain resistance. Unlike resin composite, porcelain is resistant to the staining properties of wine, coffee, tea, and dark fruits and vegetables.
|
• |
Natural appearance. Porcelain best mimics the natural texture and light-reflecting properties of tooth enamel.
|
• |
Brighten your smile. Porcelain veneers can make dark teeth appear much whiter.
|
• |
Porcelain is well tolerated by gum tissue, minimizing complications with infection.
|
• |
Conservative. Veneers preserve more of your natural enamel, which is better for your oral health and overall health. |
