CEREC Same Day CrownIf you need to improve the look of your smile, and you need to do it quickly, CEREC Crowns may be just the solution you are looking for to get the work done and get back on with your life. At Randolph Center for Dental Excellence, we have all the tools needed to handle this same-day crown procedure. What’s in the Name?CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramic. Essentially, what that means is once you sit down in the dentist chair, we can typically handle everything needed in the office that day to get that crown sized, designed, and implanted in your mouth. It is a huge step forward and it's something a lot of our patients have been excited to utilize. When you get a normal crown, it must be made at an offsite laboratory, which can take several weeks. In the meantime, you have to walk around with a temporary crown in your mouth, which is uncomfortable and susceptible to breaking. CEREC crowns are a major breakthrough for our patients. By using the latest in computer imaging technology, we can quickly make a crown that is custom fitted to your tooth. Despite the speed with which they are created, CEREC crowns are designed to fit in your mouth perfectly thanks to our advanced fabrication system. The whole process typically takes approximately two hours - a far cry from the weeklong waits for traditional crowns to be mailed back to our office. Just like with regular crowns, CEREC crowns can be used to strengthen a damaged or decayed tooth, cover up a tooth following a root canal, or to provide a surface for a dental bridge to attach to when it is installed. Unfortunately, CEREC crowns don’t work in every situation. Severely damaged teeth or teeth with damage below the gum line may not be candidates for CEREC crowns. Also, CEREC crowns may not be as durable as regular crowns, a factor to consider when making a decision. A Quicker Cosmetic CrownCEREC crowns are also useful for strictly cosmetic purposes. Whether you need a quick fix ahead of a public appearance or if you just want to update your smile’s appearance on short notice, CEREC crowns can make it happen while meeting your scheduling demands. Additionally, many of our patients report that there is less pain following a CEREC crown installation procedure compared to getting a normal crown. And even though CEREC crowns are put in quickly, they can last up to 30 years if taken care of correctly. We are very excited to be able to offer CEREC crown technology to our patients. It is just one of the many great services we offer at Randolph Center for Dental Excellence that make use of the latest in dental technology. Keeping up with that technology is important and it is what our patients expect out of us as they deal with increasingly busier schedules. If a lack of time has been preventing you from considering getting a crown, call us today at (336) 444-2772 to see if a CEREC crown will fit into your schedule. |
