It can be daunting to move to a new area and form new relationships with local medical and dental providers. Insurance companies play a key role in understanding whom you can go to for what services. By making a few quick phone calls or looking at a few websites, you should be able to find a local dentist that accepts your type of insurance.
Contact Your Dental Insurance Company
You will want to contact your dental insurance company to see if they have a list of dental providers in your area that they have a relationship with. You can check their website for a provider list or call them. If you go to a dentist that is not on their provider list, you may have to pay additional out-of-pocket fees for dental services. It is worth your time to contact your dental insurance company first.
Contact Your Local Dental Office
Most dental offices have at least one person dedicated to working with insurance companies. Call your local dental office and ask for this person and then ask them if they accept your brand of dental insurance. If they are unsure, you can always call or go to the website of your dental insurance company and ask them, as they should have a list of dental professionals they work with. Someone at the dental office should be able to tell you if they accept your insurance.
