Many people find flossing tedious, boring, repetitive, and slow. While you may hate flossing, it is essential to the health of your teeth and gums. You might want to invest in a water flosser. Here is some information about water flossers and why they may be a solution for you.

Why Is Flossing So Important?

Even if you brush your teeth every day, there's a chance you can still acquire gum disease. Bacteria cause gum disease- but you can't get rid of all of the bacteria in your mouth because they are helpful bacteria. They help you digest your food effectively.

However, if you have too much bacteria in your mouth, it can cause both tooth decay and gum disease. Gum disease in Stage One is curable. However, once you have Stages Two or Three, your dentist cannot cure you. The disease gradually creates pockets, or spaces, between your teeth and gums, where food and bacteria can become trapped. If you leave gum disease untreated, you can lose teeth, have infections in your mouth and even your jawbones, and cause issues in other parts of your body, such as your heart.

What's a Water Flosser?

The best way to keep gum disease at bay is to floss. Flossing removes food particles and plaque - a film left by bacteria- from your teeth and gums. If you floss twice a day every day, you are constantly getting rid of the bacteria in your mouth. However, if you loathe flossing, you may want to invest in a water flosser.

Water flossers use a stream of water to floss between your teeth and clean your gums, which means you will no longer have to floss each day. Water flossers can be battery-operated, or they may come with a charger. While they cost more than flossing with string, they will save you money in the long run because you will be saving on all of those dental bills.
